I always preferred buying things from them when I could because they didn't barter as much as the Indians did. The nearest Chinese to QVS was Phoo (Pua) who ran the New Tong Lee bakery. He was always half asleep and always with a cigarette. Philip Low, part-Chinese, ran the Kam Lee shop at the Lodoni wharf. Susi White had a half-Chinese cousin, Bui, who lived near Natovi. | |||
