| 1961 | High = 2°F. Kincy and I played couple games 500 rummy. We walked to Dilly's who wasn't home. I fixed the intercom and we hid it in Terri's wastebasket, down to basement. Played ping pong and The Game of Life. When Terri came home we listened to her until she found the intercom. | |

| 1968 | Picked Kincy up at Dorothy and Winnie's (his aunts) and we went to Les' for cards (lost $1.25) with Storlie and Darrell. Kincy funnier than usual. |  |

| 1971 | 3" snow. Drive a car for the first time in over two years - went to hardware store to get bits so I could hook up a pull bell so Mom can ring Chris upstairs. Mom tried to make a curry with the powder I had brought - it was terrible. | |
| 1972 | Back to working in the library. Penny and I had to break into the office to get the mailbag for the bus. Letter from McDougall, a card from Jeanie and a card from Les. Played tennis with Bob and Haysons until I knocked the ball into the jungle. Helped Ian record marks, then we played bridge from 10PM-1AM. Su and I won. |  |

McDougalls brought two boxes of goodies that Gail can use at school. Sanders came in the evening for billiards, snooker and wine. | 1975 | Up at 10AM and ordered coffee and had a Saturday paper delivered. The missing suitcase was also delivered. Steve picked us up and we got the school projector. Had lunch at same place. Picked up his skis and dropped him off at home. He let us use his car. Got groceries at Safeway. Then we did Stanley Park where we walked along the coast and forest to a lake. Black squirrels climbed right up my leg. The Aquarium had too much to take in on one visit. Walked around the kids zoo until dark. Got Steve and went to the University where we looked at our slides and his of his seismic ship trip and mountain top hikes. Met Matt, a Jew, who spent the summer in a kibbitz. |  Skana |

| 1981 | Su - Gail and kids went with Towns to New Ulm for a Krohn meal at the Kaiserhoff. Letter to Clark. Billy K came back with Gail and will spend the next few days with us. | |
| 1982 | M - Mehus dropped in but I didn't have time to talk to him. Had a candlelit shrimp newburg supper with the champagne that Chris gave us. We watched Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. | |
| 1983 | T - Back to work. Card from Fran. Box of jelly beans from Chris S. Letter (pg 1 pg 2) from Beckingsale. Card and letter from Liz describing the additions to their house. Shovelled driveway and raked snow from roof. Kids read to me. Tiger was put down. |  |
| 1984 | You have to understand that I don't wear glasses anymore to understand this next story. Gail's cousin Billy was staying at our place. As I was waiting for the bus with another guy we saw a car sitting a block away for a long time. Then it comes up to where we are and stops in the middle of the street. The window is rolled down and when it became apparent that help was required we walked over and the other guy said:'You lost?' and the guy (Gail's uncle David) said: "Yah, I wanna know how to get to your house". I couldn't tell who it was without my glasses. So it took me half a second to put 2 and 2 together. Couldn't figure out at first what the guy meant. Kathy bought me lunch at Joe's (St Paul Cos cafeteria) and then we had coffee at her desk. Card from Delwyn. John Lennon Silver Beatles picture LP and Bob Marley picture LP came. |

| 1985 | Town after Foodtown. I bought a Goofy Viewmaster, Goofy party invites and Goofy car. David got a beach towel with fishes on it and Ne got one with US Coke®. We also bought a two-man boat. Spent most of the afternoon fixing up the putt-putt course. The other night when Monty got all blue he also did something to his rear leg and has not been using it, so Gail brought him to vet for X-Ray and to be kept overnight. Put new fuel pump into car. Clarks over and we played the golf course. They enjoyed it even if Sophie did end up in the fishpond. We gave her a bubblebath and then the "Patience Tester" singlet to wear. After golf it was a curry meal and three bottles of wine. A fantastic Karlsurg Estate '81 cab-sav and a good So African KWV '80 cab-sav. They gave us cloth table mats [ed. - still using them in 2008]. Kids gave Sophie a padlock and she loved it. We watched "Agony" and chatted until midnight. |

| 1986 | Colored a birthday card for Joyce. Went with Lees to Lake Pupuke with the raft I made by tying two surfboards together. We canoed, rafted and floated about in the vinyl boat. I towed Ne and Ben and David towed Mat. Had lunch there. Ran into Doug who was trying out a new surf sail. Home for yard work and priming the mail box and Ne's windows. Johnny Taylor said "Hi" through the hedge. He's 57 and running ultra marathons and still the same. |

| 1987 | Slept until 11:30PM, getting 8 hours of sleep for first time in a long while. Lees dropped in to say "hi" and stayed a couple hours. Yardwork until I collapsed around 6:30PM. Letter to Steve/Rox and a card for Lamorna. Gail's snoring had me shift out at 4:30AM to floor in my den. Didn't sleep until after 7AM. |  from Betty |
| 1988 | Ne was fishing when I got up. Very fine morning. Almost everyone went for a swim, but by the time I got up we were under way, this time by sail. Only took 30 minutes to get to Pohutakawa Bay on Ponui Island. Simon picked a wonderful spot, right next to Spindrift with its topless crew. Went ashore. David, Chris and I climbed the rocky point, traversed the crest along sheep/cow track up to where I carved my initials into a power pole and made it back to shore in about half an hour. Meanwhile Ne and Fran collected oysters to eat and use for bait. Inflated our boat, tied it to Trianon and the kids had turns float in it. I slept through supper and remained supine for the evening while others played backgammon. see photos |

| 1989 | Went to work for a boring meeting with Peter Taylor as he droned on. Got Stuart started on dBSTATS evaluation and had him update the hardware database. Trained Linda on dBase entry and she struggled through DW4 labels. Stayed with her until 9PM. Home very tired. Big pile of mail - Letters and cards from Elaison, Leland, Schwitters, Gutzke and Swanson. Hoffsis sent me a Goofy stamp. Letter to Heasley. |  |
| 1991 | Birthday card for Joyce. Karioitahi with Whites. I got out when salt in eyes got too much for me. We jump started Ana Lindsey's car, then hung around the beach for a couple hours. Back to Whites to watch Mermaids. Played cricket, to test out the new stumps that David made for Matthew. Then bridge until 11PM to try out the cards we gave to Susi. |  |
| 1992 | Kids went to Rainbow's End with Whites. Letter to Joyce. Letter to Trish (in Timaru). Printed out music database on dot matrix and it took two hours. Walked to PO Box. Took shots. | |
| 1993 | Others went to Kelly Tarlton's and I guess dad was facinated with the sting rays. Letter to Streasick. Cleaned house while watching Viking games Mom had sent along. Played jarts until supper. Did the Serbus family tree. Looked at family videos. | |
| 1994 | Off to Opoutere. We met up with Ian at the beginning of the road over the hills just outside of Kopu. He popped the hood only to find oil everywhere. He had topped up at home and forgot to put the cap back on! Gave Ian a tour and we chatted with Ernie. We drove to the DOC carpark at the river head and walked over to see the dottrel colony on the sandspit. A lot of variable oystercatchers around. After supper I weeded until dark. We played Chinese checkers and Madlibs. Sky cleared so we got the telescope out and were up until 1:30AM looking at Magellan clouds mostly. |  |

Luckily the rain stopped in time to do a visit to Brundell Bush. David and Christopher went to see "Lord of the Rings" with Ian. I saved a wax-eye that was floating in the pool. | 2002 | Up late to find a box from US - thought it was one I had sent but it was air mailed by Chris and Celia and it was the Goofy phone that Ne and I had admired in the Mall of America. It won't work in NZ but the demo does and you hear Goofy telling you to answer the phone when it rings. I sent emails to Lamorna and Yuki (who wrote back say she and Chiemi were very excited to be seeing "CATS"). email from Angi who has been given her walking orders from Greenpoint. Into town to get Ne's flight, a car for us in Dunedin and a motel in Queenstown organized. Stopped at NW to get a much needed fly swatter. Cool, windy day so I stayed in and slept a few hours until it was time to go to Bert's for TP. Cards from Leroy (moving to Tallahassee) and Eliason (carved his first face). |

| 2003 | email from Woody. I sent them off to Hikaru, Oberg and Roberts. Card and letter from Mom. Another coat of poly onto Ne's door and studio trim. Then I crashed until 5PM when it was time to go. First stop Whites where wished Sally "Happy Birthday", then Emery's to look at computer and finally Marcia's for the evening with Dougie and Jill, Rachel and Phil, Graeme and Maitel, Barney and Glenys, Shelly, Robyn, Viv and Frank. Rosemont '00 cab-sav was excellent. |  |
| 2004 | Up at 11AM all groggy, but it was a sunny day for a change. emails from Shirley (going up north) and Nick (been to Spain). email to Chris. Card for Sally. Washed clothes. Cleared ants from salt cell controller. Had my woozy ear three hour sleep. Lost the cribbage game 112 - 127. It was over to Whites for Sally's birthday bbq. Spilt wine on my shirt, spilt wine ('01 Nederburg Cab Sav Merlot) on Tracey... Played "Break the Safe" with Minis and David and then it was trifle and Trivial Pursuit until 11PM. Watched Hidalgo. |

| 2005 | Returned Ne's ceiling fan and got wiring supplies. Put two more post lamps on the pool stairs. Won cribbage finally. Spent the whole day running a wire from upstairs to a switch at back door. Hooked up my new webcam. | |
| 2006 | emails from Kathy K and Dave R. I sent off email/cards to Tate, Hikaru, Plasha, Nils and Kay B. Rainy day and I spent some time in bed. Won the cribbage game 128 - 120. We went to mini-Whites for Sally's birthday. Tima was also there. When Josh wasn't trying to escape outside (to see the raindrops) he was playing with a toy fan. I made her a card. I had a very good Wolf Blass(Yellow) '05 merlot. After the meal we played a couple games of BUZZ and I won mine. Ian cut the top of his head on a window corner. | 2009 | Su - Up early to tape ZM Top 100 of 2009. Called dad who could hear me despite what Angi said about his hearing and Ne also spoke to him. emails to Loruama, Rosalie, Vitu, Mike G (he replied with a photo) and Lamorna. Pruned a lot in the back lawn and weeded taro plantation. Lost cribbage game when Gail and Ne got back from shopping (Tefal fry pan). Laps. After a ham supper I shot out to put pool light back on top of the pole and pruned bushes on front fence. |

Sent emails to Steph, Kathy S (she replied) and Roché. emails from Michel. email and photo from Lesser. Hauled branches, pruned by pool and mowed back paddock and front lawn. Won cribbage game. Over to Minis for Sally's birthday. Tracy and Leon gave me a birthday card and bottle of wine. I gave Leon the Christmas train because NOEL also spells his name. After a meal I played ping pong with Christian on the new table tennis in the garage. Then after cake and pie we settled down to many games of Dominion. All the while I was sipping on a Wolf Blass 09 Merlot. |  Lessers
