| 1959 | Danny and Lyn helped me set up the basement. Danny, Chris, Angi and Lynn went 'trick or treating' while I stayed home to pass out candy. I gave my magic show then we played games - all the above plus Kincy and Terri. | |

| 1970 | Boys don't know what Halloween is, so I tried to explain. Saturday means farm work - Joji T. and Orisi got into a fight and I had to settle them down. For punishment parade I had the boys do our back yard. Alipate S. was my personal slave and he helped me with the food store. It was a beautiful day. Contraband at Whites with Peter and Murray. Then Susi and I lost to Wilkins and Ian in whist. I had to supervise the boys at the movie What's New Pussy Cat?.Letter to Towns. |  |

| 1972 | Letter from Steve N. We brought Ghetto and Rufus to SPCA in Suva to be speyed. Rufus threw up three times (first time in a car). Stopped at Tong Lee, Korovou, Nausori (ran into Ivan and crew), and Nasinu where I ran into Mesake L. Spent two hours at PC getting a physical. Tongan nurse with French accent. Met the Berkowitzes there and Larry is going to send me stamps during their trip back to States. Met Jay Olmsted and discussed finances. Peking for chow. Visited Mere in hospital where we ran into Neil Harrison and his wife. Went down to Murph's to wish Trish a happy birthday. Then Whites to view a film of a meke at Natovi. |  Rufus |
| 1973 | Had to remove Kay Byford from science class. Letter from Boardman. Basketball - reffed game bewteen Checkers Red and Tigers which went about 10 minutes into overtime. College boys lost to Tigers Yellow 21 - 22. I made 8. Home for chow and then back to watch Rosehill lose to DB 15 - 31. | |

Letter and boys' basketball photo from Lynette. Drove to Mom's and made David up as a magician. She gave him a toy lawn mower. Drove to Towns' at 5PM. Tiger would bark when kids came trick or treating and that scared David. We brought him over to Phyllis' to do a little of his own and he was frightened by a ghost. Called Newstroms and was able to talk to Steve and Kincy. Then we ate at Sambos with Towns. |

| 1976 | Rick left at noon. Looked at Fiji photos with Peter. He had a taxi bring him to the airport at 1:30PM. | |
| 1977 | M - Bad cold, so I skipped the PR meeting. David as a Devil and Ne as a geisha. We brought them to Michewskis, Jones and Aldersons where we stayed until 8PM. |  |
| 1978 | T - Was supposed to watch a 7th form class, but no one showed up so I helped McBride organize for her classes to the end of the year. Had 6 girls doing textbooks at lunch. Dave Evans brought a load of books and we talked about School Supplies problems with Desai in Fiji. He noticed my maths units and suggested that I write a math textbook for them. Kids dressed up for Halloween but didn't really go anywhere. Just had a party at home. |  |
| 1979 | W - In 1975 we bought a couple Halloween costumes as did my mother. So accordingly, whatever fits is what the kids wear. David was a skeleton and Ne was the Devil this year. Both perfect type-casting. I was Batman. They made ghosts out of old diapers and we had them slide on a wire strung across the livingroom. Even found a squash to turn into a jack-o-lantern. |  |
| 1980 | F - Had a 10 minute evacuation in the morning. One story was that the humidity level got too high in the tape vaults. Won the cribbage game. Gail took the kids around (both Indians) and they got a nice haul. I stayed at home to handle the 60 or callers that we got. Met David Lundholm when he came around with his two. Gail brought the kids (photo) to Candi's (a Penney's workmate) place to show them off. Kids thrilled with their big haul. I watched boxing and then the 1st half of Frankenstein but had to go to bed at 1:30AM. |

| 1981 | Sa - Tape 1960 Top 40 while typing a letter to Norma Roadley. Gail worked at Warner's 9AM-6PM. Mowed lawn then played baseball with David, Ne, Craig, Amy, Angi and Terri. David was a robot with a flashing light in his forehead and Ne a skeleton. Did a block with Mennes then another with Stroms. Introduced myself to all the neighbors. The Haul. |  |
| 1982 | Su - Brought a bo of stuff and the Hot Cycle to mom's for a garage sale. David and I raked leaves into a 5 foot pile. Gail mowed the front and David did the back. I restocked her woodpile and put the lawn furniture into the garage. Lunch and over to Town's for a warm banana cream pie. Home at dusk. Turned down Roy's offer to go together. Rain kept us to only 10 houses. Introduced myself to Ursula Polesh. Asked the lady next to Libby if she were a teacher. Turned out it is her daughter who also plays basketball. Joked around with a few other neighbors. |

| 1983 | M - Took me half an hour to get car started, so I worked until 4:30PM. Chapman's last day and he met with me to tell me how to help the new supervisor. I brought the kids around as far as Chrissy Bankers'. We were out for an hour and got a big load. David was a robot, Ne a dancer and Amy a witch. Dressed Sugar up, too. Big headache sent me to bed at 8PM for two hours. |

| 1984 | Played cribbage with Mary Rempart at lunch. Rainy but took kids around anyway - David was a cowboy and Ne a clown. Went a block with Rhoda and Nicole. Kids had fun. |  |
| 1985 | Moved Displaywriter from Personnel to Tech Services and the IBM typewriter out of Ingram's secreatry's office. Pretty upset all day a JV cut one computer from Info Centre. Then Julie Hale dinged around with unimportant stuff so Purchasing is no better off. Dennis Gadd with endless minor questions. Reg over with papers to sign. Fellow buying the house never came inside - one look at outside and yard and he said yes to our price. Drove to Manurewa to find a lot of gifts at a new shop there. Then home to wrap them so to get them in mail by deadline, tomorrow. Got a nice marlestone plate for Joyce. Dogs to vet for shots; Monte's foot wrapped up for its sprain. Even with a sprain he still leaps over the 2 foot barrier (between back hall and kitchen). | |
| 1986 | Slept in - right-side headache. Left work at 1:30PM zonked out and didn't do anything. Jane called from Auckland saying they wanted to do some shopping so they didn't come out for the night. Ne went trick or treating with Allison F. Got lots of cookies, apples and $1.20 but no candy. |  |
| 1987 | Whites over and we took them grocery shopping: 3 Guys, Woolies and Foodtown. Had lunch at Georgie Pie. Game of bridge, Ian and I trouncing the women. Arna Neems slept over. A couple kids came by trick or treating - no costume, no makeup. |  |
| 1988 | Ne went out trick or treating with with Nicola, Sonja and Anna. They were made out to be pandas (paper masks). They made out like bandits - $20 in cash, whole packets of cookies, big candy bars and much candy. |  |
| 1989 | Discussed Mac training with James. Prepared paperwork for the CX/CI exchange. Peter agreed to let James stay in IC permanently. But Leszek is back to IS for a month. Yardwork, washed van. Watched Phoenix the Warrior and Dr Alien. | |
| 1990 | Jeff Griffin dropped in to pick up the ref I did for him. Letter from Karen L. Bed after supper. Up to watch a great Halloween episode on Roseanne. We had no callers this year. | |
| 1991 | Bought a bulb for Collin's projector ($27). They came over for cards and I had a nap. We looked at slides of our trip to NZ in 1985. | |

| 1997 | F - Dilworth Audiology for a hearing exam with Andrew Gordon (inner ear causing deafness). The Warehouse to get fireworks. Got to school at Noon. Gail had looked at 5 houses in Waiuku. Fab called and invited us to see her photos at the school art exhibition. TP at our place. | |
| 1998 | Sa - Laps. Letter to Steve G. We had several trick or treaters. Whites over for bridge. Then they brought Jackie over and we looked at out trip slides and Jackie's last batch. | |

| 2000 | T - Called mom and Louis Herbas. Crashed. Mowed Sophia's lawn. Rowdy night class - no data show. Had to get caretaker, Craig, to open office to get it. | |
| 2001 | Vacuumed pool, planted red onions, cleaned up last shower door section, mowed the verge. Skunked Gail at cribbage. Had Steph carve her first jack-o-lantern, just in time for the first trick or treaters. No data show, so had Helen track it down. Did genealogy and they all seemed keen on it. |  |
| 2002 | Got into Auckland and 5:30AM and Gail arrived just as I made it through customs etc... We had to wait for the tent to be cleaned. She has a few ailments, so took today and tomrrow off. Stephanie gave us vouchers for a meal at Waiuku's Japanese Restaurant, Sapporo. Chardy remembered me. Shown the garage loft, now cleared out and painted. We went into town to do banking,* get a Lotto ticket and groceries - met Su in her new uniform and missing a tooth at New World where she now works days. Welcome home card from Trish. Letter and photos from cousin Lori. Ian called. email from Marge and a Halloween ecard from Mike and Ann. Carved a squash for the kids who came before darkness set in. Spent most of my time going through the 7 months of financial documents to get a handle on our budget status. Bed at 11PM on Ne's bed in the livingroom which now has the pool table. |

| 2003 | Letter to Gutzke. New World and then Brundell's from Graphics lesson. I began filling petrol from a pump that hadn't been cleared, so the guy came running out to stop me as his bill was going up. Got just a wee bit of weeding done before I went into visit with Elaine - a job prospect at Sandspit next year. Then to Emery's for KFC with Russell before he went to work. Put a couple graphics packages on the laptop for Christopher. TP at Mike's and I did a few things on his computer. Ann H had suckers wrapped in tissue to look like ghosts for the kids who never came for Trick or Treat. |  |
| 2004 | email from Angi with update on Bob's battle against the big C. Sent her a reply. Vacuumed algae from pool. Weeded and pruned around pool. Completed the laying of floor in my room. Skunked Gail at cribbage. Back out to weed until supper. Then some pruning in back yard. Only 7 kids came round from treats. email from Colleen who is a grandmother as of yesterday. |  |
| 2005 | McKenzie's to be confronted with a computer that will only run a mouse in safe mode. Made it tough to tackle to the 20 or so bad guys that have crippled it in other ways. So after 90 minutes and a cup of coffee I had a break. Picked up Ne's prescription, shopped at Countdown (bug zapper for Ne) and then a quick stop at Aldies to get David back onto Limewire. After running a virus scan decided to bring Su's computer home. Won the cribbage game after supper. Not a single trick or treater - and I had bought a bag of Pinky bars. | |
| 2006 | Vacuumed pool, cleaned up under pergola and weeded front lawn. Lost cribbage game. Had a couple groups of kids come round for "Trick or Treat". Did the S4L Nov newsletter. | |
| 2007 | email to Herbas. Hooked up the new pool pump and found a leak in inlet to filter. Weeded front lawn. Elaine over for a coffee after school. Lost the cribbage game. We had 12 trick or treaters. | |
| 2008 | Up at 8AM with diarreah. email to Wiek and Clarks. One from Schwitters (Rollie prostate cancer). Ne went to a movie, "How to Lose Friends and Alienate People", with Stephanie and then over to see Gail. Kathy S. (card and flowers) also visited her at the same time. Joan and Elaine went in after school (card). Claim from other vehicle's insurance company. Spent the day cleaning and get ready for Atmores' arrival. They arrived at 5PM, went for a swim and we had Jim Beam while chatting until Ian and Susi came at 7PM with roasts to go with Colleen's kumera and bacon dish. We basically ate the supper and carried on reminiscing for 4 hours while going through a Pelican Point 2007 Shiraz and a Mission 2007 Cab Sav. Loved their stories of Father Waqa - the hard drinking man of God. Susi's uncle removed from priesthood for stealing a duck. We only had 2 groups of Trick or Treaters. |

| 2010 | Su - email to Haala. Took chainsaw to larger branches in back yard, then hauled a barrow load away. Cut out dead ginger along pool and mowed the back lawn. Weeded and pruned until Emery, Roseann, Sam and Sofie came to "steal" plants. Gave them the stuff we were going to give to Sandspit Gala. Ne showed up just as they left. Lost cribbage game. Sprayed weeds. | |
