That stuck in my mind and I am determined to exercise as faithfully as he did. He had been all over the world having
worked on merchant ships. And he had already been a PCV in Ethiopia before showing up for a stint in Fiji. One evening he showed slides from
there and the only one that I recall some 40 years later is the one with him in bed with two bare-breasted young black women.
Made me almost want to change countries. He carried on that tradition upon leaving Fiji. He retired to Costa Rica
where he lived with a young lady, Luz and her son, Santiago. I was lucky to have kept in touch with him right up to his death. We almost
stopped in to see him once in Costa Rica and I sure wish we had done it. |
