Frank & Bette Thomas

Our resident retired couple, but full of fire.  Frank was just a kid inside and sharp as a cracker. Bette was sharp in every way and I fell in love with her.  Both were to be such an inspiration to me - Frank giving words of advice when he got serious and I needed some direction.  Bette's positivism rubbed off on me.  When I grow up I want to be just like them.  They made a trip to QVS once and I visited them at their school on Ovalau Island and saw first hand how they suffered having to live with the principal - who was "all work and no play".  So they left after one year, but made a return visit in 1972 and I was able to see them in Suva.  Gail and I were able to visit them over the years - twice in Ohio (1975 and 1980)and once, just before Bette died (1997), in Texas.  They in turn stopped in on us in Minnesota in 1982. They were close to Bob Piper and visited him in Costa Rica in 1974. Frank made it to 100. Read more about him at his Malley-Mate page.
