1957	Report card - Miss Miller wrote: "Starting Monday we will watch John's progress at his own rate of speed in arthimetic. John's general spelling in all paper work is well done and his specific spelling in workbook and tests is very well done. Good luck, John, in arith, if and when you need help just ask. We'll check your notebook once a week unless you have any specific problems."
1959	Colored Easter eggs and played outside with Billy.
1960	Billy and I played basketball.
1961	High = 52°F. Track trials - had to run around basketball court 48 times.
1969	Help Kelly move into his house on 49th St. Then we went to his folks' for a meal, played pool and listened to Gary's records.
1970	School break for a couple weeks. Most of the boys leave but there are still plenty around. We seem to have around 20 at any one time here in the house listening to tapes. Driving me crazy, same songs night and day. Painted the rusty refrigerator with only paint on hand - a flat khaki green.
1971	Spent a lot of time with stage hands building the set.
1972	Murph's in the evening to tape his albums: Live at Leeds (Who), Seasons (Magna Charta) and Country Funk. Showed Bob how to develop films.
1973	6ths were put into place when they got their tests back. Used a permanent marker to drew a graph grid on the blackboard. 5ths pulled their socks up thanks to a visit by Jerkovich. Stayed until 4:30PM marking 4ths' books. Talked with McLachlan about Fiji and WWII.	Bob
1974	Science meeting after school - demonstration on magnetic fields. Basketball - College lost to Tigers Yellow 21 - 13. Poor game and biased refs as usual.
1975	Michael Harrison doing a statistics project. Rock 'n Roll class did music on television and commercials (lesson). Bridge lessons at lunch. Rudy over to watch TV.
1976	Letter and photo from Grayce. Over to Aldersons. David was playing Doug's guitar and singing. Sanders showed up for KFC. Looked at slides of the Alderson brick factory where Doug worked as a boy. Then we saw our Vancouver and Fiji slides and finished off with someone's from England.
1977	Finished Puppet Masters.
1979	T - Took 3S for Science - no books, no pens, no brains. Box from Mom: Christmas decorations, Pearson Salted Nut Rolls, Tootsie Rolls, Viking photos (from newspaper series) and snow boots for Te.
1980	Th - Put up window shade in Town's basement bedroom. Went to Ridgedale on Highway 12 where I bought slippers. Mom's where we had goulash. Gail bought a set of walkie talkies for 25¢ and they work. Packet from Lakeville Chamber of Commerce. Joyce called to say that she bought 5 dozen eggs (60¢/doz) for kids to color for Easter. Made up bingo cards for use in the car.
1981	F - Doug upset with his non-promotion to date. Tom upset that he has to do screens. Chris upset that John didn't tell her something. I'm in hot water for being too efficient.
1982	Sa - Picked up repaired sunglasses ($4.75), a 3ft train track at Jolly's, shoes and pants at JC Penney. Gassed up at SuperAmerica ($1.09/g) and Target.
1983	Su - 7" of heavy snow. Gail worked at Woody's. Kids and I watched King Kong.
1984	T - Chopper, the hamster, died - old age. Ne upset about it.
1985	Packed all day and all night. Ne's last dance lesson and she got a real nice letter from the teacher, Mitzi. David joined Todd S. on his paper route. Took Ne's bed apart and threw out the springs. Tossed the small green chair, too. Bob picked up the couch ($100).
1986	Purvis for plugged up ears - gave me Beconase - big deal. Work at noon - we interviewed Paul Chadwick who presented himself well, but didn't seem like an Info Center type. Then Jim Mitchell put on a splendid performance of confidence. TV screen blew and size shrunk. Time to put the heaters on in the evenings. Here Comes Summer album came today ($7.98).
1987	Thought it impossible but things got busier at work. Alan Dougall's farewell - I put up signs that I printed off at home last night. Norm Clarke back from 2 day conference a firm believer in IC. So we are going to do something at last. Spent 3 hours at Purchasing upgrading dBase. Stayed until 8PM doing orders. Birthday card for Hoffsis. First feijoa.
1988	Renee stayed behind to attend dance practice and Chris was very ill, but the rest of us went out on Simon's boat around 9:30AM. Beautiful day - perfect, but very little wind. Still we managed to get to Auckland in time. Began making our way to Princess Wharf when we found out that Michael Faye's maxi-hull, "New Zealand", would be towed to bouy A. So we turned about and within 30 minutes we were overtaken by about 5000 boats. Total chaos. I was under a towel trying to sleep off my pending migraine. Tried to video but waves were very choppy from the wash of all the speeding boats. It was a long haul back to Maraetai. Reached the MBBC at dark. I couldn't row worth beans, so David took over. We gave them a whistling kettle for the boat. David broke our double thermos while bringing it on board.
1989	26°C but no one wanted to go to the beach. Aldies came by for coffee and pumpkin pie. Gave Doug the Stranded in Paradise book to look at as his friend, Peter Coleman (bass player for The Dudes), is in it. Watched Vise Versa (very funny), Terror Vision a reasonable comedy and Humanoid.
1990	Imagineering with Peter Taylor where we were given a sign posted welcome and a grand tour meeting everyone who worked there (a lot of hand shaking). Peter went through his spiel. Then afternoon at Brimaur to hear their OS/2 presentation. Gail went to physio and now has a neck brace.
1991	Letter from Joyce. Dick is very weak and can only hold down broth. We went for a walk after supper and I told Gail to pack her suitcase.
1992	Birthday card for Hoffsis. We watched Ghost video.
1993	Julie and Brett's wedding at Clifford House in Remuera. I set up Simon's video camera and chatted with the minister, Roger, who spent time in St Paul and Vienna. Short ceremony, then the wedding group left in a car for photos. At the reception we sat with the Rolles, Whites and Crawfords. I sat on floor to tape the speeches - Simon had me stand up and asked me if I had been a draft dodger. I told the MC, Bob, that Simon had a birthday yesterday, so we all sang to him. There were a few of Julie's Rosehill friends there - the only one I remembered was Gina Stephenson. We left when the dancing started.
1997	Th - Physio. Doug over for RnR TP.
1998	F - Brought Breeze's ladder to Julie. Didn't recognize Brett (thinner, grey and glasses). Had a coffee with him while Ben (age 2) created havoc. Just a quick "hi" to Julie between customers. David in to help at school. Worked until 6PM. TP at Ronda's.
1999	Sa - Whites dropped off feijoas. Audrey and Kitty came for a visit and tour of yard. Audrey used to bring her horses to graze on the property before it was subdivided. Karioitahi for surf with Senad and Titania. Aldies for David's birthday party and met the Craigens (Jeffrey). Gave David bandaids, BurpMan and a "Stash" mailbox. Played pool.
2000	M - Laps. Broadhurst's to fix computer problems. Crumpled van's passenger door on fence post when leaving.
2001	Brundell called with today's problems; both cats have been savaged by a ginger cat, sail is up but needs more work done and computer is in to TLS for modem problem... Sandspit because Trina's screen went black. Turned computer off and on and Voile la it works!! Night class met in Ian's room so we could look at the scanner and digital camera. Helped Berthe's son Herbert who couldn't download a file from IRD. Spoke to Senad who now works for R & M Cleaning on weekends. email from Chris saying that Bob is better and will probably be in ICU for another week. Foot massager arrived.
2002	Vicki and Doug Reimer in paper with their first child, Renee. Elaine over for a swim. Watched Jack Nicholson in The Pledge with a very good ending.
2003	Ne's box from States arrived, so now we have many flavored popcorn salts, wild rice and US candy. She also stocked up on Christmas ornaments and they made it without breaking! Gave me Grand Prix badges. Dorothy arrived to visit Steph just as we were leaving. delivered our two bed bases (with built in drawers) to Emery's bach in Mangakino. It rained and I was tired,so after a game of cribbage I had a nap. Up for a late supper, another crib game - Ne skunked me, and then reading until we went to bed. So no fishing.
2004	Sprung out of bed at 11:10AM when I realized that I left the hose on filling the pool. Spoke to Joyce - she is chowing Burger King's 99¢ fishburgers (they are fresher during Lent when there is a big turnover)
2005	Gail and I went to the Warriors game (Ann and Russell out and about with her cousin from England). Down 14-10 at half had the lead with 8 minutes left, only to lose 22-32. Too many penalties, bad calls and bad luck. Gail really into the ebb and flow and nervously kicking seat back in front of her and the guy asked her to stop. Scrabble while watching Life or Something Like It.
2006	Did 45 laps between rains. Pukekohe to get an AC adapter and decking. Watched Hannibal.
2007	email to Steve N. and he replied with a story of the exploding aspirin bottle.
2008	Graeme P's daughter, Marie, died in London so I went over to be with him for the day. We brought his bike in to be readied (he's racing in the S.I., but now only first section and returning in two days when his son will arive from Canada). Then we picked up Trish's car in Pakaranga and got it back to Manurewa where I dropped off Bonnie with Ne. Picked up Graeme's car in Papakura. Worked on his computer until his parents came to be with him. So I got home at 7:30PM. Elaine's house has a two page spread in Franklin paper.
2009	Library to return Gail's books and get another Jeffrey Deaver. Hospital to visit Gail and find Diane W and Lisa T there. Bev and Colleen had been earlier. Had a Western Whopper at Burger King. Emery's for TP.
2010	Sa - Weeded and pruned all around until I found a leak in hose on backyard fence. Easy repair and then into skunk Gail. Pruned back the pink cestrum right down. Ian over to play Alhambra with a bottle of Johnny Walker Green.
2012	T - Gail and Ne went to Waihi Beach to camp at Top Ten. Did a big shop. Weeded back lawn. Put the spice racks up. Cleared out the heater closet. Watched Lion Has Wings.
