Wati and Susi's cousin Lusi came up for the weekend and ended up spending their time with Peter and Dave. They began their drinking at 5PM and made it a long night and mess to clean up. Letter to Gail: "I think they [PC] knew I was a loner when they sent me here. If I were in a village I would never have a minute alone. This place is really a lot better". Letter from Celia.
Beautiful: boys playing guitars at back of house, Phil's motorcycle out front, Ram's sister strolling about in a beautiful sari, cats and Ghetto sleeping together in livingroom. Bridge - Ian and I had a real good night.
Asai has raised his delivery prices 100% and that caused a discussion at staff meeting. Got upset in 5C and sent Lomaloma to the office for reading his library book. Letter from Gail - she has told her parents finally. Kini came up for a visit.
Heasley dropped in on his way to Fiji where he will look for a job - taking the year off from school. He stayed the night and I heard all about his life in Dunedin.
To Breezes' to watch TV: Alias Smith and Jones and Love Thy Neighbour.
Built a crate to hold cradle. Neil brought over 9 basketballs for Rudy to use at the Cagers practice. Annette M spent the day here. I am playing my albums one last time before packing them away.
Perry gave me a lift to practice. Reffed the WEREwolves-Cagers game. We lost to WEREwolves 22 - 24 (Neil had some good shots). We beat Cagers 46 - 36.
"Oh Dears" covered English texts. Another 100 books arrived. 3S had a multiplication contest. PR meeting: new form/assembly system. Des talked about behaviour objectives.
Lia over for the day. Gail made doughnuts for lunch. I rebuilt the meter box cover. Letter (pg 1 pg 2) and two cards from mom. Note with a card from Thomas. Went to town and got beer and an Irish Mist.
F - Finished reading Out of Bounds (SF short stories by Judith Merril). Filled in US 1980 Census. Very ill, so I slept afternoon away. Looked through the resume books. Called Dad (John Knisley and Minnie finally married) and then Tom Kelley (spoke to Carole about housing market).
Sa - High = 73°F. 3 hours at Scout Expo '81 at Maplewood Mall. Saw how to make rope out of twine, tasted colored bread, saw seeds being grown in their packet. Plenty of games ot try and samples to have. David made a clown face and was given a bag of popcorn for doing it. He did an execcycle test and got a balloon. I took a quiz on fire safety and got them all right, much to the boy's amazement. Gail got a helium balloon from the Girl Scouts. David had his first go trying to ride his two-wheeler - best he could do was about three times around on the pedals.
M - $237 for a new steering pump on wagon [ed. - later in the year Fords were called in for a free repair for this problem]. Meanwhile the frame on the Ford LTD finally broke.
W - Cub Scout cake auction. Ours sold for $3 and David bought one for $2.
Movers, Terry and Jerry, arrived about 9:30AM and we desparately tried to keep ahead of them. Su Kainz dropped in with a gift and farewelled us. Filled 2/3rd of container in 6 hours. Renee was given a ring from Chrissy Bankers. David was given 2 books by Mrs. Mayer and the class. She will really miss him. I had the kids give out NZ pennies to their classmates. Todd and Cory G. gave David a Lego set. Gail brought kids and a load of stuff to Mom's.
Corey - Todd
Good Friday. Kids decorated Easter eggs and made hot cross buns. Called Mitchell to tell him that the interview went well. David and I tried to locate Halley's comet but could only spot Saturn. Chris called at 9:15PM. He was offered $400 for golf clubs that had been Bob's. So he asked Jim if he wanted them and got brow beat and we were even accused of getting the fishing gear.
Ne had her first netball practice and will be center which is what she wanted. Gail bought a spindle book shelve unit, heater and other goodies at garage sales. Found a drum set for sale in paper, so took back seat out of car and she and David got it for $420. Ne slept over at Natasha Moase's. Aldersons stopped in with David Stephen (his 1st visit anywhere). Doug brought over a book on rock videos. Wham! The Final album ($16.48) came today. Watched Revenge of the Nerds and The Kids Are All Right.
Placemakers for a saw horse and stuff. Then bowling. Sticky shoes so I never got my timing right - 129, 155. Ne had 42, but figured out how to keep the ball on the lane and got a new high of 92. David also had a new high, 95. Lunch at Chicken Spot - bit of a dump with lousy milk shakes. Warehouse, Toy Warehouse and Party Shop. Found a few Goofy items.
James Mitchell came around 3:30PM and we played Jarts with Ne. He installed Windows 3 onto our computer. Jon Slaughter over for the night. After supper we played Arabian Nights role playing game. Ne babysat for the Chapmans.

T - Picked up Brundell's computer from WCS. Laps. When I was moving a pool fence section I broke the T-junction of the outlet pipes. Brundell picked up his computer and we gave him a tour of the yard. Night class.
Called Mom and had a nice long chat. Bob doing good and improving after his by-pass operation. Asked mom about Bud Rush, who was the owner of the Heidelberg where she and Lorraine were waitresses. She recalled going to Lorraine's place on Oakland Ave. in 1957 to look at Sputnik. Lorraine's husband worked at Gleuk Brewery and he kept giving my mom Stites so she could hardly make it home... An uninspiring night class on Internet and multimedia. Chatted with Fab and she had me listen to the song "Dime", by her friends in a band called Elixir.
Brundell came after emailing seminar by Debbie Mayo-Smith with latest tale of woe.
Ne and i drove around the town and checked properties, then the beach where 7 kids were fishing. Also drove to three electro-dams to see what sort of fishing might be done. Took the back roads through Arapuni to Putaruru and on to Tirau which is about the coolest town I have seen for a long while. We stopped to checkout antique stores and get ice cream (honey and ginger, mmmm-mmm). Shops a bit ritzy for the likes of me, but I did find a Goofy postcard at Oxford Court. Chatted with Antiques@Tirau's barefoot owner, Murray, about his lamps. He puts up 8 each day. Long drive from there hitting Hamilton rush hour traffic, then heavy rain in the dark. Got home in time to go to Emery's for TP. Meanwhile, Gail was being farewelled by Sandspit staff. A huge bouquet and a couple lovely ceramic pots.

Christopher was hit in head with cricket ball yesterday, and he couldn't go to the Warriors game and so Renee came with me. They played better but they lost the game with help from bias ref and linesmen. It was Penrith Panthers 42 - Worriers 22. David A., sounding like an islander, eh? called about his computer and James lack of fixing it.
Ran into Ken and Steph at Mitre 10 and they asked if they could put up a new sign on our property. Drove to MCC to get an LG DVD Recorder (getting $100 off for cash, as it would have been an hour to get finance approved). Got a couple thin wool v-neck sweaters at EZI-Buy and an ADSL router at DSE.
Tracy sent one with photos of her uni reunion in Brisbane. 46 laps and then I worked on the deck. Watched Murder on the Orient Express.
In to see Gail. Trish and David were there. Paul and Irene had been earlier. Jackie and Brad then appeared. So Gail and I only had time for a game of cribbage and I was off to the Warriors game. Sat with Owen and Rollie since Ann and Russell were off to see "My Fair Lady". 24,000 expentant fans after winning first two games. But Brisbane was too fast for us and it was an ugly 26 - 10 defeat. On the plus side, I used the sports radio and listened to the TV broadcast. Kara Gordon Trio played (pretty much the same set as last year).
Su - Found an albino carrot in the garden (or was it a parsnip seed that got into the packet?). Just lost cribbage game 120 - 123. Watched Warriors anihilate Broncos 48 - 16 in a rough and tumble game that saw many injuries. And the score could have been higher.
M - Whites over for bridge with a Matua '09 Pinot Noir.
